Maintenance Tip: To keep you new RPW USA pipes looking their best, we recommend applying a high quality chrome polish to them every time you detail your motorcycle
Please Note: Pipes are not warranteed against bluing and UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCE will pipes be warranteed after they have been run on an engine. See TUNING TIP.
Step 1. Begin by removing the existing pipe from the motorcycle, and then inspect the exhaust gaskets. If they are worn or deteriorated, fit the engine with a new set. Next, loosen the bolt to the floorboard and move floorboard out of the way. Remove the rear most bolt attaching the foot control bracket and loosen the front one but do not remove it. Rotate the control forward as shown. This will provide the necessary clearance to install the head pipe.
Note: Use blue lock tight on frame bolts to mount frame brackets
Step 2. Take three mounting bolts out of oil cooler for 08-09 models.
Step 3. Installation of the True Dual pipe requires the lower frame rail to be cut off as shown. Save portion that you have cut off. Deburr the frame rail with a file or burr knife to leave a smooth edge and cover any bare metal with touchup paint to prevent rust and plug hole with plastic plug, available at any hardware store
Step 4. Attach heat shields to header pipe. Offer the right hand side header pipe into place on the engine using slip head clamping, putting nuts on flanges tight.
Step 5. Using right hand side pipe bracket loosen 10mm allen head bolt back inside motor mount. Loosen approximately 5/16”.
Step 6: Undo bolt from frame rail position. Slide mounting bracket up into bolt by sliding on back bolt first. Do not tighten bolts at this time.
Step 7: With right hand muffler with clamp on, Make sure bolt and seam will be facing inside and down, slide muffler into header until approximately even with heat shield about 2”. At this time use 5/16” x ¾” bolts. Attach muffler to new frame bracket. Finger tighten 5/16” bolt. Now snug bolts on frame bracket evenly. Go thru all mounting bolts at this time at right side and tighten.
LEFT HAND INSTALLATION:
Step 8: Remove battery cover. Reroute rubber breather hoe to other side of bike. Use supplied sticky back insulation, peel stick back off and apply to starter solenoid and battery cable to protect electrical components. Take your time, do a nice job.
Step 9: Install heat shield to left hand side header pipe. Install header pipe snugging nuts down on clamps to allow a little movement of head pipe.
Step 10: Using left hand side mounting bracket, loosen back motor mount 10mm bolt. On older bikes remove the 10mm bolt from frame rail, 2008 and up bikes remove the 8mm bolt from frame rail.
Step 11: Slide frame rail bracket, older models use ¾” black spacer and 10mm supplied bolt. 2008 and present bikes used 8mm supplied bolt and 2” aluminum spacer.
Step 12: Left hand muffler, slide T-bolt clamp on. Slide muffler on header pipe with bolt and seam fitting to inside of bike. Using 5/16’ x 1” bolt for mounting muffler to bracket. At this time, tighten all bolts adjusting mufflers in and out on headers to achieve good fitment. For optimum fit, measure distance from pipe to outside of fender on each side, noting difference from fender. Fender may need a little persuading to get equal distance.
Step 13: Prior to starting the engine, wipe the pipes down with a clean rag. Start your engine and check for exhaust leaks. You are now ready to enjoy your RPW USA exhaust pipes.
Installation of this exhaust will require we recommend an adjustable fuel controller. See your Victory dealer for details. TUNING TIP. To help prevent bluing, the engine should be properly tuned before running it with the new exhaust.
