Step 1. Begin by removing the existing pipe from the motorcycle, and then inspect the exhaust gaskets. If they are worn or deteriorated, fit the engine with a new set. Since you have already removed the right side floor board, you are now ready to install 2 into 1 header with heat shields already attached.
Step 2. Offer the primary pipe into place on the engine.
Step 3. Due to the design of the primary pipe some finesse will be required to get the ends of each pipe into the exhaust port in each head. Begin by placing the rear pipe in the rear exhaust port. Heat shields must be in place for installation.
Step 4. It may be necessary to pull on the front pipe to flex enough to clear the fins on the head. You may also tap on head pipe with rubber mallet before installation to spread header a tiny bit, this process should ease in installation. Ease the pipe past the fins and into the exhaust port. Split exhaust clamps are included. They are orientated as show. They are to be installed on the engine one half at a time. Loosely fit all exhaust flange nuts, do not tighten them completely.
Step 5. Slip right hand intermediate pipe (see photo) insuring that exhaust T-bolt clamp is on flared end. Slide into position rotating mounting bracket up into stock mount. Insert stock rubber grommets, used supplied 1½” x 5/16’ bolt. Do not tighten at this time.
Step 6. Take right hand side muffler, put on T-bolt exhaust clamp on flare end. Slide into position, use ½” aluminum spacer to rear most mounting position. Used supplied 1” x 5/16” bolt including washers
Step 7. Next, start to tighten all components of exhaust system evenly until all nuts and bolts are tight.
Step 8. Install long collector heat shield using appropriate hose clamps. Put collector heat shield in place but do not tighten. Install long straight heat shield behind collector heat shield with appropriate hose clamps. Adjust collector heat shield and long heat shield. Tighten all hose clamps evenly, aligning the shields to assure proper fitment of heat shields.
Step 9. Left hand side intermediate pipe (see picture), muffler and heat shields install the same as right side. Remount floor board, use ½” spacer on rear bolt and 1/4” spacer on front bolt, not only will this give adequate space for exhaust system, it will even up gap of floor board to body work. Supplied also are spacers for your left hand floor board. Follow directions as above.
Step 10. Prior to starting the engine, your chrome exhaust system should be wiped down lacquer thinner or acetone using a clean soft rag. Prior to starting the engine, your ceramic coated exhaust system should be washed with soap and water and thoroughly dried using a soft cloth to remove any oils. Start you engine and check for exhaust leaks. You are now ready to enjoy your RPW USA exhaust pipes. Installation of this exhaust we recommend an Adjustable Fuel Controller. See your Victory dealer for details. TUNING TIP. To help prevent bluing, the engine should be properly tuned before running it with the new exhaust.
